PROMOTION OF HIGH INCLUSIVE EDUCATION IN SOUTH-EAST EUROPE

Promotion of high inclusive education in South East Europe is project which is successfully conducted for already four years.
Two phases of this project are done and the third phase of the project is in preparation at the moment

The project is conducting simultaneously in four countries by organizations: Association of students with disabilities “Gaudeamus” from Republic of Moldova, Association of students with disabilities from Republic of Macedonia, Association of youth with disabilities from Republic of Montenegro and Association of students with disabilities from Republic of Serbia.

During the first phase of the project several meetings of the organizations from the Republic of Moldova, Republic of Serbia and Republic of Macedonia were hold.

Network of youth and students with disabilities in South East Europe was officially founded on the meeting in Belgrade, in the period of 12.-17. February 2004. On that meeting the activities of Network were established and the activities were conducting simultaneously in all three members of the Network.

The leading activity during the realization of the first phase of the project was research of the position of students with disabilities in high education. The research was successfully conducted and more about the results you can find here.

Beside the research we were also doing on the Law analysis. In the frame of the Law analysis the research was based on the issue of how the laws define the rights of the youth with disabilities? More about Law analysis you can find here.

After the first phase of the Project the second phase of the Project has come and it is characterized with more dynamic happenings with concrete results. First of all, the Network is spread with one more organization. More likely, one more organization from Republic of Montenegro Association of youths with disabilities enjoyed the Network, which conducted the research about position of students with disabilities in the second phase and get continuity with the Network.

Next, very carefully justified media campaign named: “Equal in Education” which distracted attention of the public on promotion of the concept of high INCLUSIVE education, and through this campaign the results from the first phase of the research were promoted. Results were published in creative justified publication.

Parallel with the Campaign, a great number of “round tables” were organized on different faculties, where the topic was concrete problem of students with disabilities. We emphasize an important fact that response of the leaders of competent institutions and interest about these topics was small, if we compare with response of students that don’t have disabilities and their interest to use inclusion in education. More likely, activity of the Project called “info stands” made solid attention of the young students with disabilities. During that activity, students with disabilities in the halls of their faculties delivered promo materials and they also met with students without disabilities. Students were able to sign up and get involved in voluntary work and promotion of highly inclusive education.

Second phase of the Project was crowned with signing of the Charter of high inclusive education. University rectors and Ministers of education signed the Charter and they acknowledged approval for promotion and conducting of inclusive education.

The third phase of the Project is in preparation and more about plans for the next period you can find here.
